Positive Parenting Program

There is a new parenting initiative that is being piloted in the Province of Manitoba.  It is called the Positive Parenting Program, or Triple P, for short.  It's an adapted program from the one offered in Australia.

This is a parenting program that is helping parents realize that in our society, positive parenting is effective, and is a reliable approach to raising our children.

It has just begun with a massive ad campaign, of billboards, bus ads, radio announcements, news paper ads and so on, that have little tidbits of information and where to go to get more tips.

The website has several pages of information for parents and practitioners.

For parents, they layout parenting blocks for enhancing child development:
  1. Make home safe and interesting
  2. Have a positive learning environment
  3. Consistent positive guidance
  4. Realistic expectations
  5. and Taking care of yourself.
Also for parents, there several links to parenting tips.  Have a look around.

It is a great effort and movement being taken here in Canada to have parenting tips being taken to the community. It feels like parenting is becoming more of a community effort instead of an individual or couple effort.
