Some Food for Thought

I recently came across this quote which I had not heard before. It definitely made me think. The following quote is by the late Haim G. Ginott, a famous parenting and child expert and author of the book Between Parent and Child.

"When a child hits a child, we call it aggression. When a child hits an adult, we call it hostility. When an adult hits an adult, we call it assault. When an adult hits a child, we call it discipline."

What are your thoughts on this quote? Do you think that spanking is acceptable in our society? Should it be? What message do you think that spanking sends to a child?
